Jerry E. Moore, 79, dies « KGYN Radio News

The son of Byron Petty Moore Sr. and Lela Margaret (Shilling) Moore, he was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Texhoma, Oklahoma.

He was united in marriage to Janell King in Clayton, New Mexico, on May 2, 1953.

Jerry attended the Texhoma school system and Oklahoma Panhandle State University for two years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Texhoma First Baptist Church. Jerry worked for the US Bureau of Mines, retiring in 1987 as plant manager at the Excel Helium Plant near Dumas, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wanda Moore and one grandson, Christopher Ray Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Janell Moore of the home; five sons, Dennis Moore and wife, Patti of Hooker, David Moore & wife, Shelby of Guymon, Steve Moore and wife, Tammy of Goodwell, Paul Moore and fiancée, Maria of Guymon, and Jimmie Moore and wife, Diana of Texhoma, Oklahoma. Survivors also include 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one brother, Byron P. Moore Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and one sister, Vivian Choate of Moore, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning, June 2, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Texhoma with Rev. Tommy Hull and Rev. Tom Freeman officiating. Interment with Army Honors will follow in the Texhoma Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The Moore family suggests that memorials be made to the Texhoma First Baptist Church. Memorials will be accepted at the church offices or the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
