TWICE this summer, giving your child the fantastic opportunity to be center stage in our beautiful Center for Performing Arts!
The camp is a fun learning experience as the children work with theatrical artists and counselors to stage a musical in less than two weeks.
The kids rehearse their roles, participate in a wide variety of theatrical workshops, and experience many acting and movement basics. They also have the opportunity to experience the behind the scenes side of theatre as well when they work on set painting, props, and publicity with the fine staff of teaching artists.
Each two week session culminates with two public performances of Aladdin Jr. “As proponents of educational and artistic enrichment, we at Tipp Schools are thrilled to be bringing back this fantastic opportunity to our district” officials said. Parents agree that the Camp is a unique and wonderful opportunity to get kids involved in the theatre. “The preparation is intense as the kids work from 9:00 to 3:00 every day for two solid weeks. In addition to trying out for roles, there are short performance exercises, games, and counseling from the older students and faculty in the Tipp Theatre program. “Said one parent, “To see the quality of the final product at production time is quite something. “ The kids work very hard these two weeks, but they enjoy every minute of it,” another added.
All of this is the result of the hard work and dedication of Jim Sagona Theatre Program Director at the Tippecanoe Center for Performing Arts. Prior productions have included “Seussical” a tribute to the works of Dr. Seuss, “Alice in Wonderland” and “Schoolhouse Rock”. The Tipp High School Theatre Program recently earned 14 Dayton Tony awards for their 2010-2011 season. Additional information can be found at the Tipp Schools web-site and on Facebook.
