Hollywood: Talamo, Rosario dominate
Jockey Joe Talamo swept the early double and Joel Rosario won the third race on Saturday to take the lead in the jockey standings at the Hollywood Park spring-summer meeting.
Talamo, who is third in the standings with 41 wins, four less than Rosario, won the first two races with Mensa Heat ($2.80) and Our Lady Gaga ($8.40). In the third race, for $25,000 claimers on turf, Real Housewife ($8.80), ridden by Rosario, finished a length in front of Cactus Flyer, the 6-5 favorite. The $1 pick 3 combining those winners paid $29.60.
Rosario has 44 wins at the meeting, one more than Rafael Bejarano, who is riding at Prairie Meadows in Iowa this evening. The standings reflect results through Saturday's third race.
LIGHTHOUSE SOUND comes out of a very strong AN2X turf race, one where he middle-moved after a slow start forced him to race well off a mild pace; this is a much better pace scenario for him, as this race does seem to set up very well for the closers, and it's also worth noting that he ran a strong race in March to win in his second start off the layoff.
