Building a computer, what is wrong…?

*Standard ATX power supply

I know there really old but all im ganna have it do is run Damn small linux so it is sufficient.

With that out of the way heres my problem. I plug everything in and i press the power button and the power light goes on (can be seen in pic. 2), but neither the cpu fan goes on nor the powr supply fan goes on. Any ideas?

Check the light on the motherboard (there should be a green light somewhere that turns on if its on). If there is a light somewhere and it doesn’t turn on, its likely to be the motherboard (or possibly the power supply, but I doubt that since you’ve got the power light turning on). If it does turn on, then its probably the CPU or memory thats the issue.

Wellllllllll, did you happen to do the same stupid thing I did when I was changing out a power supply for a friend of mine…<grin> Which was, his motherboard has the 20 pin power connection and a 4 pin power connection… When hooking up the motherboard power I accidentally plugged in the wrong 4 pin connector onto the 4 pin power connection on the motherboard. I grabbed the one labeled +4 which was the wrong one.

Or, did you accidentally toggle the on/off switch at the back of the power supply to the Off position?

Just some basic common ideas to pass to you, hopefully you figure it out.
