This week, the Slidell police were able to arrest three people who were accused of soliciting Slidell children over the Internet. The Slidell Police Department has started an aggressive program to stop and prevent online predators with special training and equipment. We applaud the police for being proactive on this, but even with the watchful eyes of the police, these predators still manage to come in contact with children. Computers are amazing machines, and the Internet is a storehouse of knowledge and socializing beyond measure. But it is also the new tool of child predators. No longer do they have to prowl neighborhoods, they can just join in a chat room to find their prey.
