The Vancouver Province points out that they won the opener of the Stanley Cup final, but the Canucks may have lost two key players for Game 2 against the Boston Bruins .

Clearly, shut-down defenceman Dan Hamhuis didn't look good leaving the game after injuring himself while hip checking big Bruins winger Milan Lucic four minutes into the second period. He didn't return and is said to be “day to day.”

But the Canucks may also face losing first line winger Alex Burrows, one of their top playoff performers, after he appeared to bite the finger of Boston centre Patrice Bergeron during a scrum at the end of the first period.

The two paired off behind the Boston net and in the mutual face-washing that ensued Bergeron shoved the fingers of his right glove into Burrows' mouth, who appeared to clamp down on them. Burrows received a double minor for roughing, while Bergeron got just one minor for roughing.

The Walking Dead impression may cost Burrows and the Canucks dearly. The NHL will certainly look at the incident and the fact Jarkko Ruuttu, then with Ottawa, was suspended two games for biting Buffalo's Andrew Peters' thumb in a game on Jan. 6. 2009 doesn't bode well.

"We were battling and obviously had a little exchange there,” said Burrows, who has 7-7-14 in 19 playoff games. “I'm not going to say too much about it.

Obviously, I got four minutes on the play and we killed it off and our guys did a good job killing it off.”

Did he bite the Bruins player?

"I don't think so,” said Burrows. “He had his fingers in my mouth, but I don't think I bit him.

“He put his hand up and put it in my face and his fingers in my mouth and that's what happened."

Asked if he was concerned about a possible suspension, Burrows looked daggers at his interogator and said: "Next question."

Bergeron said Burrows caused a small cut on his right index finger.

“He cut me a little bit on my finger,” said Bergeron. “We disinfected it and we put some antibiotic on it just to be sure. It's not that bad. I'm not going to complain about it. The refs didn't see it. We were speaking French, me and him and I told him, 'why did you do that?' and his explanation was that I put his finger in his mouth so he had to do it.

“I don't mind the rough play and those scrums at the end, as long as it's pushing and shoving and all that, but biting – come on.”

Bruins head coach Claude Julien called the move “classless.

Marjorie moved to Mineral Wells in 1944 and worked for Alprodco as office manager from 1955-1976 when she resigned and went into the bookkeeping and tax service business for herself. She was very successful, but it was a lot of hard work. So when A.D. Garrett offered her a job at Garrett’s Jewelry she accepted. She was still keeping books for many of her clients, including A.D. Garrett and Carl Kessler until his death and her retirement this year. She was a devoted member of Mineral Wells Temple No. 14 Pythian Sisters serving as Temple secretary for many years. She served as grand treasurer from 1971-76, when she became a past grand chief. She served as supreme representative in 1988. She was captain of the drill team for many years and she still marched on the team, going to Canada in 2006 at the Supreme Convention. She was honored by the Grand Temple of Texas as outstanding Pythian Sister in 1975, 1976, 1982, 1988, 1994 and 1996. She served six years on the Pythian Retirement Home Board in Greenville, Texas, and six years on the Board for the Texas Pythian Home for Children in Weatherford. Donations may be given in her memory to either of these worthy organizations. She was a driver for the American Cancer Society, taking people for radiation and chemotherapy. She also served as secretary for two years. She battled breast cancer herself in 1998 and beat it. She is survived by her children, Jim and wife Nelda Cowan of Cisco, Texas, Melanie Cowan Curtis of Mineral Wells and Jeff and wife, Connie, Cowan of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Diane Marie Cowan, James Anthony (Jac) Cowan, Christi Lee Wilson and Meredith Frances Cowan; step-grandchildren, Ginet Gordon, Deann Gordon Spence and John Darrell Gordon; and great-grandchildren, Marlee Ann Wilson, James Austin Cowan and Kalaya Jaylynn Wilson.
